The BEST DESIGN SELECTION Series, launched in 2018 with Volume 1 dedicated to Italian Interior Design, arrives in 2022 at its fifth publication with the interesting theme of the new hybrid spaces of living.
The home is evolving from a domestic and exclusive place to a space in which the relationship between public and private life is in constant oscillation. In contrast, community spaces are increasingly taking on the characteristics of home feeling.
The home is now a place where the impetus of changes dictated by society and lifestyles profoundly modifies the design. The editorial staff is interested in investigating this theme by selecting works created by Italian authors from 2015 to today, focusing on the values indicated by Siemens Home Appliances, the promoting partner of this initiative.
Sustainable Solutions, Spatiality, Integration, Seamless, Connection will be the yardstick for evaluation and selection by the scientific direction and will be indicated as thematic areas within the publication.
The projects will be examined with particular attention to the living areas, meeting spaces and the kitchen, which in addition to maintaining their traditional functions take on the hybrid characteristics dictated by new lifestyles with regard to domestic environments and places for shared experiences.
The selection will focus on projects realised in Italy and abroad between 2015 and 2022 with the focus on the home and hybrid spaces for communities (work, education, culture, sport).
An essential requirement is that the designer must be Italian or the design team must be founded or directed by Italian professionals.
