Marmomac 2022

The leading international natural stone exhibition gets ahead of the digital curve with Marmomac Plus, in anticipation of the physical event at Veronafiere, scheduled 27-30 September.

Marmomac is the world’s leading event dedicated to the stone industry and qualifies as a highly international event, a reference point for all professionals in the construction and contract sectors, as well as for designers, architects and decision makers in search of the best products and the most innovative technical and design solutions in an increasingly dynamic market.

After the stop imposed by the pandemic in 2020, last year Marmomac returned to attendance registering over 30 thousand qualified operators (48% foreign) from 120 nations, with 756 exhibiting companies (43.5% foreign) from 39 countries.
With less than three months to go before the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 2022 edition, the event’s marked internationality is once again confirmed with the presence of important countries, including India, South Korea, Japan, USA, Brazil, Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt. The Incoming programme through the network of Veronafiere and ICE Agency delegates is also back.

Marmomac, scheduled at Veronafiere from 27 to 30 September 2022, as every year is enriched with experimental projects focusing on technologies and innovation, and adapts the exhibition space to welcome and guide visitors along an exploratory path able to meet the needs of architects and designers as well as technicians and distributors. Among the initiatives, the Marmo+tech meetings are back, designed to show and deepen the new technological possibilities in the field of production of new products or efficiency enhancement of existing processes, to which is added the Marmo+Press talk cycle of conferences organised by international technicians on market and sustainability issues.

On the other hand, there are five cultural projects that welcome exhibitors and visitors to the Verona Exhibition Centre: design, architecture, art and university experimentation, with the involvement of some important furniture brands are the strands on which the concepts of the exhibitions are developed.
The collaboration with ADI, the Association for Industrial Design, continues, which through the Veneto and Trentino Altro Adige delegation, is organising Etica-Litica: a challenge to companies to create prototypes with a single sheet, including recycled materials, to combine the creativity of industrial design with the themes of sustainability, seriality, ease of transport and location. Brand&Stone is back, curated by Danilo di Michele, which investigates and encourages the use of stone in the collections of major international design brands. Dedicated to universities is the Marmomac meets Academies exhibition calling on architecture and design students to analyse the relationship between stone materials and the rural and urban landscape; focus 2022 is urban furnishing curated by Giuseppe Fallacara and Domenico Potenza. Finally, the exhibition Visionary Stone curated by Raffaello Galiotto that promotes the development of experimental works of art in stone, processed with numerical technology.
In-depth analysis in the field of architecture is instead entrusted to the scientific committee of Platform Architecture&Design which, together with Marmomac, will set up a photographic exhibition of projects representative of the use of stone.

Alongside the physical exhibition, digital content will also have its place with Marmomac Plus, the portal of the worldwide stone community operating all year round, where it is possible to consult profiles of top players in the sector, discover new products, market trends and possible applications of natural stone in architecture and design. The proposal of a virtual meeting place in the months leading up to the exhibition is consistent with Marmomac’s desire to consolidate and expand networking among operators in the sector, with a view to enhancing the market and supporting companies by promoting new business and training opportunities. To date, more than 1060 companies from 45 countries have already renewed their subscription.

Marmomac’s objective remains that of accompanying and promoting the development of a manufacturing sector in which Italy excels, maintaining its leading role in terms of business, culture and experimentation. Development that also passes through market knowledge, with the fair presenting the first national study on the experience and perception of marble in Italy. The analysis shows that natural stone is the second most popular material after ceramic and followed by wood/parquet, stoneware, cotto, cement and laminate. The uses are quite clear: floors (55% of responses), kitchen and bathroom tops (42.4%), stairs (39%) and windowsills (36.2%). A choice that stands out above all in the South and the islands where it is present in 62.4% of homes.

The appointment with the 56th edition of Marmomac is in Verona from 27 to 30 September 2022, in the new midweek location from Tuesday to Friday.
