Vudafieri-Saverino Partners’ elegance in the Delvaux flagship store in Beijing

Milan-based architecture firm Vudafieri-Saverino Partners, which has been responsible for the global concept of Delvaux boutiques since 2012, has signed an interior design for the brand’s new flagship store in Beijing.
Reinterpreting the spaces according to a contemporary language, rich in cultured and refined references, architects Tiziano Vudafieri and Claudio Saverino have maintained the roots and expressive codes of the Belgian Maison, enriching them with refined details and antique pieces, selected by Jean-Marc Loubier – CEO Delvaux, to create an enveloping and refined atmosphere, capable of making customers feel an authentic connection with the values of the brand, the oldest luxury leather goods house in the world.

The flaghisp store is spread over an area of 130 square meters divided into three rooms: at the entrance, the foyer divides the Delvaux bar, located on the left, from the VIC room (Very Important Customer), a cozy lounge area with walls covered in imperial red, paying homage to China.
A strong feature in the foyer space is the ceiling, made of metal and light panels, for which the architects were inspired by the Maison du Peuple, a famous symbol of Belgian culture and an Art Nouveau masterpiece created by Victor Horta.
The walls, finished with a warm white marmorino and caramel-colored suede panels, feature specially designed displays made of fine Calacatta Oro marble on which shelves of glass and bronzed brass rest.

Attention to detail is also discovered along the corridor leading to the VIC room, where a curved wall paneling is covered with black-and-white wallpaper depicting Brussels’ Grand Place.
In the background, the colors and shapes of Delvaux’s bags and accessories stand out, surrounding the spaces while giving guests an immersive experience.
In the VIC room, the vintage charm of gold wall screens enriches the entire space, which is upholstered in soft red Alcantara, where a system of glass and bronzed brass shelves is designed to showcase the collection’s most sought-after pieces.

The Delvaux Bar, which features a canned brass counter with a Calacatta Oro marble top and a flamed wood bar cabinet, is designed as a space for exchange and interaction with customers. Also located here is one of the most iconic pieces of furniture developed in the Delvaux concept: the typical Flemish cabinet, with sinuous shapes, revisited in a contemporary key and made of wood, with an irregular frame.

Furniture made to the architects’ design, such as the elegant velvet seating in the VIC room, alternates with a selection of antiques.
Delvaux’s visionary identity and fine craftsmanship also stand out in the façade, made to the architects’ design. The reference is images of art deco and northern European modernism such as the iron and glass structures of the Crystal Palace and the geometries of Charles Mackintosh and the De Stijl movement. For more information, visit www.vudafierisaverino.it.
