Ferruccio Laviani has designed the ELLE bookcase for Mara, a modern and transversal system distinguished by a metal structure composed of three self-supporting vertical elements that can be placed linearly side by side. The product takes its name from the ‘L’ shape of its shelves, thanks to which the bookcase can take on infinite customisation possibilities: the shelves can in fact be arranged in a regular manner or rotated ‘upside down’ to create double-height spaces, thus adapting to different needs.
“I created this collection with my daily life and needs in mind”’ reveals the architect and designer, “and the result is a passe-partout for contemporary furnishing”.
ELLE is in fact designed to be a system in constant growth and variation: it can be enriched over time with the addition of new elements and change its arrangement at will and according to need. In this way, from being a bookcase, ELLE becomes a true furnishing element that adapts to different environments (from the office to the living or dining area) and various uses (storage, shelving or partition), expanding Mara’s unprecedented collections and extending the brand’s path that is increasingly balanced between office and home.
ELLE marks the first collaboration between the company and Ferruccio Laviani, united by the ideal of innovation, rationality and boldness that guides their respective paths. Also uniting them is a soul and passion from Brescia, the territory in which both have their roots and culture. “Of Mara,” says Laviani, “I immediately appreciated the honest desire to invest in new designers, without fear of taking risks, to propose something new and challenging to the market“. At the basis of the project, there is a desire to experiment, to go beyond one’s own boundaries, to dare with courage to put one’s own design to the test and at the same time add something new to the design scene.
The Elle bookcase system is a transversal, modular and modern architecture, a tribute to lightness. Its modular structure is made entirely of metal: a material that not only supports Mara’s DNA, but allows for an even more marked stylistic harmony with the brand’s other collections.
Available in different colours, from monochrome to customised combinations, ELLE easily adapts to any furnishing style. Transversality is the distinguishing feature of this project, which fits perfectly into the philosophy of the products in the MARA catalogue, designed to offer versatile solutions suitable for multiple uses.
