MODE ECO MOOD HOTEL

A sustainable development model is one that ensures that the needs of the present generation are met without compromising the ability of future generations to realise their own.Starting from this definition, the MODE project was born in Rimini, involving 14 of the most important and significant architectural firms in the hotel industry, called upon to give their interpretation of sustainable design. The MODE project takes the form of an accommodation space that can be a reference point for the hospitality sector based on the redevelopment of old historical structures of the Rimini tourism industry.

Awareness is the key word of today’s and future tourism, intense as an increase in awareness about sustainable travel both in the choice of facilities that respect sustainability issues and in people’s direct purchasing behaviour towards organic products and solutions with minimal environmental impact,” says Mauro Santinato, President of Teamwork Hospitality and creator of the MODE HOTEL project. “MODE HOTEL is the answer to this request to be a hub of innovation of eco-sustainability in hotel design and management and incorporates the idea of breathing new life into Rimini’s hospitality fabric.

MODE HOTEL is the redevelopment of the Hotel Arlesiana in Rimini, in the San Giuliano Mare area near the port. It is located in a central position in Rimini, a short distance from the main points of attraction, both business and leisure. A hotel with a strongly green-oriented imprinting, aiming at sustainability in design and management, not only environmentally, but also socially and economically, through the use of renewable energy sources; following the principles of green building for a zero-impact building; water recovery and the use of low-consumption appliances.

The structure of MODE HOTEL is a permanent showroom: each room is an experience in itself, representing each designer’s personal vision of eco-sustainable hospitality. MODE HOTEL breaks out of the classical schemes of hotel definition, in a vision of doing things differently. The distribution layout of the MODE project includes nine suites, a co-working area, a lobby and ground floor services. Each space has its own identity and recalls the design values of the theme.

The hotel’s exterior is designed by Rizoma Architecture, which focused on creating an energy-saving building envelope, with energy production from renewable sources, capable of protecting against the weather. The exterior also performs for the surrounding environment, with the choice of using pollution-absorbing paint for the façades, the same material that will be used on the south wall, destined to host a work by street artists.

The ground floor entrance and common areas are designed by Laura Verdi in the project “Stai cosy in una second life”. “It is a play on words between Italian and English that means: being cosy in a second life, the possibility of not wasting current resources”. A sustainability project that translates not only into the recycling and reuse of materials, but also a sustainability extended to the wellbeing of the person, amplifying the concept of the relationship between man and nature with the use of organic forms that can be traced back to the circle and inserting green elements, such as plants, in the interior spaces, but also graphic representations that refer to images linked to nature.

The ‘GEA – in the World of Wonders’ co-working areas on the ground floor are designed by HUB48. The concept takes inspiration from two distinct but fascinating worlds: on the one hand the vitality of the goddess of the Earth, on the other the enchanted and timeless atmosphere of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. “The aim is to find the balance between these two seemingly distant worlds. Our representation of the pristine environment breaks away from the use of traditional green tones, embracing instead a more organic and fluid palette, with a focus on the primary source of life: water.” The common spaces of this hotel are transformed into a sustainable co-working environment, where the perfection of the golden section and natural balance guide every aspect of the design in a welcoming and harmonious atmosphere that encourages creativity and collaboration.

MODE Hotel hosts nine different types of suites, designed by nine architecture studios, each with its own concept, but united by a sustainable design style.

On the ground floor, the Garden Suite designed by Roberta Studio welcomes guests in a solution studied through the principles of biophilic design. A suite with an indoor and an outdoor space, allowing guests to find a dialogue with nature, from the colours to the materials chosen, to the presence of greenery inside the room.

On the first floor we find the Estate Italiana suite designed by Paola Navone and Gianpaolo Venier for OTTO Studio under the artistic direction of Cristina Pettenuzzo, the From Rimini to Havana suite designed by the workshop of the Degree Course in Interior Design at the Milan Polytechnic, and the Onirica suite, designed by Eclettico Design-Lombardini 22.

The second floor hosts the Greenside suite, designed by Paolo Scoglio of The Nest, the Silenzio Sfrenato suite designed by studio NOA, and the Sensi suite by studio ovre.design®.

The Greenside suite adopts a bio-inspired approach, in which nature teaches a series of strategies to approach design in an innovative and sustainable way. “We use the tools of computational design to write parametric design codes, a kind of recipe that puts together a series of elements with which we design from micro-architectures for hospitality in nature to hotel rooms.

One ascends to the third level to find the Mare 3.0 suites by GLA Genius Loci Architettura and Mini’mor suites by Alessia Galimberti Studio.

The stay experienced in the real spaces of the new “MODE” hotel will be flanked by that of the first virtual suite realised on Italian territory: SUIT*E, based on an idea and design by Emanuele Svetti of Studio Svetti Architecture. People, comfortably installed on the bed, will then wear a visor that, in the virtual dimension, will make the bed itself float in a brief but intense virtual navigation, immersed in a transparent bubble. Through the change of scene, people will be transported from the Suit*E to sail through the sky or dive into the depths of the sea.

MODE HOTEL creates a concept, an example of being able to rethink the guesthouse model of Romagna and join in a process of redevelopment of the city, framing it in the modern concept of tourism of responsible hospitality. Freshness and passion in sharing a hospitality approach: the structure towards people, people towards the world. You no longer live like a local but among locals. A place open to everyone where you can live as you like, at your own pace.
