Forum Regeneration and Restoration. The architectural enhancement of cultural heritage

The New Together initiative organised by Platform in Venice, which not only hosts an exhibition involving 140 architecture firms from all over the world, but also enlivens the prestigious location with a packed programme of forums, conferences and lectures, on the evening of 21 May hosted the event entitled “Forum Regeneration and Restoration. The architectural enhancement of cultural heritage“.

Numerous guests took turns on stage, namely: Hon. Federico Mollicone, President of the Culture, Science and Education Commission of the Chamber of Deputies; Dr. Alberto Rui, President of Confrestauro; Arch. Adriano Piazza, Confrestauro Venezia; Dr. Giuseppe Venier, CEO of Umana Spa; Arch. Tommaso Tommasi, Tommasi Architecture; architects Isabelle Toussaint and Matteo Robiglio, Tra Architecture; Arch. Francesco Montaguti, Hawkins\Brown.

Following the institutional greetings, Architect Tommaso Tommasi illustrated a series of architectural projects realised by the studio Architettura Tommasi, aimed at the recovery and restoration of listed buildings. Then, architects Isabelle Toussaint and Matteo Robiglio, from the Tra Architecture studio, showed the large audience present in the hall the recovery of La grande Carriére Wincqz in Belgium. Finally, Arch. Francesco Montaguti, at studio Hawkins\Brown, spoke about Here East, the regeneration of the former communication centre of the London 2012 Olympics into a campus dedicated to innovators, experimenters, visionaries and locals.

The event concluded with an exchange of thoughts between Arch. Luca Molinari – Luca Molinari Studio – Dir. Editorial Platform, Scientific Director M9 and former Curator Pad. Italia Biennale Venice and the Hon. Federico Mollicone.
