Now in its fifth edition, Varese Design Week(21st/24thOctober 2020) confirms itself as an international cultural event open to the world of design in its most diverse interpretations, inspired by a single vision: the enhancement of beauty through the “contamination” of the entire urban, commercial and entrepreneurial fabric. The VDW thus becomes an exclusive opportunity for visibility for the city and the territory that hosts it, as imagined and hoped for from the beginning in 2016 by its founders. The women’s team consists of interior designer Silvana Barbato, journalist Silvia Giacometti, architect Laura Sangiorgi and editor-in-chief of Living Is Life magazine, Nicoletta Romano, President of Varese Design Week.
Varese Design Week has been officially part of the national circuit of Design Weeks for two years now, together with Venice, Matera, Palermo and Udine. The common thread of the 2020 edition will be the labyrinth. LABYRINTH, a fascinating theme, for its legendary graphic sign and its symbology: the search for a path that leads from chaos to perfection, as in the research and development process of a design project.
It is in the criticality of this context that Varese Design Week has chosen to present itself in a phygital version with a programme of events in presence and digital appointments. VDW20 confirms once again this year its presence in the city through the experience of the widespread exhibition, flanking it with in-depth analysis, speeches and online interviews, with international guests from the world of design, architecture, art, philosophy, sport and journalism.
As in previous editions, the VDW project takes shape thanks to the synergies between entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, designers, associations and locations. The 2020 edition received the contribution of the Lombardy Region and the UBI Foundation for Varese, the support of the Community Foundation of Varesotto and the patronage of the Municipality of Varese, the Province of Varese, the Chamber of Commerce and the Order of Industrial Experts of the Province of Varese.
