On the snows of Cervinia, at over two thousand meters of altitude, La Fenice del Monte Cervino stands out as a work of architecture that unites memory, artisanal excellence, and contemporary vision. Once known as Villa Bacchini, one of the first residences built in the alpine resort in the 1930s, it was destroyed by two avalanches in 1980. Today, thanks to a meticulous project signed by Bettiol Architecture, the villa returns to new life as an exclusive refuge, in full respect of the landscape and its history.
The new villa, commissioned by the Harrison family from London, develops over six levels for a total of 1200 sqm, completely rebuilt on the remains of the original building, maintaining its historical proportions and reinterpreting the alpine imagery with a sophisticated and measured style. The use of local stone, salvaged larch wood, precious velvets, and neoclassical ornaments defines a welcoming and scenic environment, in which every detail has been studied to create a balance between territorial rootedness and international comfort.
The interiors house seven bedrooms, including a spectacular King Suite, each with personalized color palettes, open-plan bathrooms, and spectacular views of Monte Cervino. Among the wellness spaces are an indoor pool with a glass bottom, a private spa, a gym, a cinema room, and a ski room that evokes the intimate atmosphere of church choirs. The scenic entrance, located beneath the transparent pool, welcomes guests in an immersive play of reflections and light.
Access to the residence is possible only by off-road vehicle or snowmobile, emphasizing the exclusivity of the location. Guests arrive at an underground garage equipped with a reception and wine cellar, before accessing the upper levels through a private path. Every element is designed to offer a complete experience of privacy, nature, and well-being, in a self-sufficient villa where technology is hidden behind a skillful direction of space.
La Fenice del Monte Cervino is much more than a residential intervention: it is a reappropriation of a collective memory, which is reborn in balance between landscape, identity, and innovation. A project that perfectly embodies the method and sensitivity of Mariapia Bettiol, the studio’s founder, who has made designing in the alpine context her distinctive mark.
