For the realization of the NGC Medical’s new Turate headquarters, located in the province of Como, inside a building dating back to the 1980s, the architect Tortato conceived color, spaces and volumes in a unique way.
Tortato chose a bright blue tone in order to emphasize the spaces and imbue the environments with greater dynamism. To complete it, white was employed to make the rooms more luminous and, in contrast, the gray flooring. The spaces and volumes were also completely reconceived. Giuseppe Tortato Architetti took advantage of the building’s geometry, fully utilizing the 5-meter ceiling heights, eliminating the dropped ceilings, and working with natural zenith light by uncovering skylights on the roof.
Interior spaces are organized according to a concept designed by Studio Tortato and developed according to the principles of the non-orthogonality of both environments and pathways. To make them even more functional, the creation of ‘islands’ specifically organized for meetings and separated by large windows. An element of greenery was also brought inside in order to add to the pleasant, human-scaled ambiance. For further information, please visit www.giuseppetortato.it.
