During the next Venice Biennale, Platform will move its “Casa” to the prestigious setting of Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia, where it will organize a series of unmissable events focused on the world of Architecture and Design.
The Venice Biennale of Architecture is recognized as the most important event in the world and is the only one capable of attracting architects and professionals from all over the world. The 17th International Architecture Exhibition 2021 (22.5_21.9), entitled “How will we live together?” will be curated by the authoritative Lebanese architect Hashim Sarkis, and will involve the space of the Arsenale and the Giardini; however, as usual, a wide and intense programme of collateral events will animate the outside Biennale. Among these major collateral events at CasaPlatform@BiennaleVenezia will take place simultaneously 2 themed exhibitions with the involvement of 140 architecture studios, which will animate the spaces of the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia during the first three months of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition 2021 (22.5_22.8).
The Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia, located in the Cannaregio district, at the end of the Fondamenta of the same name, is an imposing building located exactly between Ca’ d’Oro and San Marcuola, between the former Teatro Italia and Campo Santi Apostoli and offers excellent accessibility for the public on foot from Piazzale Roma (15 min.) from Rialto or Fondamenta Nuove (10 min.). Completely restored in 2015, today La Misericordia is a monumental space where art, history and culture dialogue with the territory, and is the institutional location for prestigious exhibitions, installations and cultural events. It can accommodate more than 1000 people and is the only one that meets the requirements of recent anti Covid regulations to be able to host events even with a large number of guests at the same time.
