MillerKnoll opened two new flagship stores this month, in London and New York respectively.
These spaces, which include contract showrooms and retail outlets for all of the collective’s brands, become destinations for high quality design. This approach offers employees inspiring workplaces and customers and the design community a hands-on way to experience the latest product innovations.
‘This is a very exciting milestone for our collective. We are delighted to be able to present our entire design portfolio in such creative and innovative locations like London and New York’, says Andi Owen, CEO of MillerKnoll. ‘We believe these spaces will facilitate collaboration in our journey to redefine modern design’.
Located in London’s Clerkenwell design district, MillerKnoll London is the first major MillerKnoll destination outside the United States. The location comprises 1,700 square metres spread over three floors of contract showrooms and retail outlets for brands such as Knoll, Herman Miller and Maharam. A dedicated MillerKnoll studio serves as the operational showroom, bringing together the array of brands and showcasing a unified approach to the modern workplace.
‘We believe there are significant opportunities for growth internationally. The opening of MillerKnoll London is just one of the steps we are taking to provide a better experience for our customers in the UK and Europe’, said Ben Groom, President of MillerKnoll’s International Contract division.
‘We wanted a welcoming environment to invite people walking down the street, while the upper floor is obviously more focused on workspace. As a company, we believe there is more and more overlap between the design of residential and commercial spaces. So we want this to be a space where it doesn’t matter if you are a retail or commercial customer, but that you see both spaces and notice the overlap of all the products’.
‘As a company that is constantly launching new products, we still use events like the Salone del Mobile, Design Days in Chicago or Design Weeks around the world, but we want this to be a key space to present our new products’.
About the future Ben Groom says ‘We are very focused not only on productivity, but also on how to create more meaningful connections in spaces. How can we make sure that well-being is increasingly the focus of design? I think the future is pushing more and more in this direction’.
MillerKnoll New York is housed at the Gramercy Centre, spanning over 7,153 square metres on 11 floors. The space includes Knoll, Herman Miller, Geiger/DatesWeiser, Muuto and Maharam, corporate offices and a MillerKnoll studio that will highlight other brands such as HAY and NaughtOne.
‘MillerKnoll New York offers our customers, A+D partners and retailers a convenient and unparalleled experience to interact with the best of our collective under one roof’, said Ben Watson, Chief Creative and Product Officer at MillerKnoll. ‘We are immensely proud of this new design hub and look forward to using it as a forum to share insights, innovations and ideas that address our customers’ most pressing needs and inspire the future through design’.
