BIG Architecture Ljubljana Festival 2024 is one of the largest Architecture events in South-Eastern Europe and brings together in the Slovenian capital the leading experts in architecture and interior design from South-Eastern Europe and beyond, who will have the opportunity to present their latest projects and discuss the main themes of contemporary architecture. The Festival is therefore not only an opportunity for dialogue and professional growth, but also an important moment for networking and relationships.
The 2024 edition will be held on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 May 2024 at the Šiška Industrial Zone from 10am to 6pm. The Festival will host the international conference on the theme ‘In Search of Beauty‘, which will investigate through the views of national and international speakers the relationship between tradition and innovation in architecture. The BIG Architecture Ljubljana Festival 2024 will be attended by over 70 exhibitors who will present their innovations at the Trade Show: Innovation Premieres. In addition, the winners of the BIG SEE Awards, which honour the most outstanding achievements in the field of architecture and design, will be presented over two days.
Zavod BIG, the organiser of the event, aims to unite the countries of South East Europe (SEE) and to highlight promising but often little-known artists. The BIG SEE platform comprises 21 countries, representing a market of 350 million people and offering numerous networking opportunities. For this reason, the debates that the Festival proposes are important moments of reflection and dialogue, which will be structured around five in-depth themes led by experts from South-Eastern Europe. The first panel will delve into Italian design, exploring the themes of inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability in production. Next, deans of faculties from South East Europe will examine experimental methods in architectural pedagogy. An international group of curators and editors will discuss the effective use of digital media platforms to communicate architecture to the general public. The fourth debate will focus on urban architecture and the complex relationship between politics and architecture. Finally, in the concluding debate, representatives of chambers of architecture will explore the various approaches to organising architecture competitions in different local communities.
The BIG Architecture Ljubljana Festival 2024 in addition to this interesting programme offers moments and activities dedicated to networking: visitors will be able to visit the SEEnergy Room, a space dedicated to relaxation, listening to music from the SEE region and networking in an informal environment. The first day of the festival, 15 May, will end with the SEEnergy Party, featuring musical performances by the Bassomania quartet and DJ August Braatz. The BIG Architecture Ljubljana Festival will conclude with the BIG SEE Grand Prix award ceremony and a gala dinner.
