The Blue Design Summit is the first event dedicated to the design, construction and refitting of superyachts, which will be held from 15 to 17 May in La Spezia.
Three days of appointments, meetings, technical visits, conferences, and networking dedicated to the boating industry will take place in the heart of the sector’s main Italian hub.
The summit is organised by Promostudi and Clickutility Team, and promoted by the Municipality of La Spezia, “Miglio Blu – La Spezia Nautical District”, the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea, and Confindustria La Spezia. The initiative is aimed at the protagonists of the entire supply chain at national and international level to discuss the most topical and important issues for the boating sector. The aim is to build an annual appointment that will be a reference point for the boating industry, a sector in which Italy is a world leader in terms of quality and quantity of its achievements.
Italian shipyards are known all over the world, with exports accounting for 86% of production. In 2023, more than 200 superyachts, yachts over 24 metres long, were delivered worldwide, for a total estimated value of more than 5.9 billion euro, and a large part of this comes from the great Italian shipyards. More than 200 new yachts are expected to be delivered by 2024, while the growth trend in refitting also continues.
Blue Design Summit stands out in the panorama of nautical events in Italy for its focus on design and planning, a field where Italian creativity has the chance to express itself to the full, thanks to the constant and fruitful dialogue with the production component, from shipyards to furnishings, from equipment to materials to the high craftsmanship that makes a Made in Italy superyacht recognisable at first glance.
The focus on Design is at the heart of the Miglio Blu Design Award, the first edition of which the Summit will host the awarding of prizes, selected by a jury of designers, journalists and industry experts.
The Blue Design Summit will give plenty of space to the personalities and projects of the designers. In attendance will be Paolo Bertetti of Sanlorenzo, Marco Bonelli of M2Atelier, Sergio Buttiglieri of Cantieri SanLorenzo, Margherita Casprini of Francesco Paszkowski Design, Leonardo Cecchi of ArDeMo – YD, Cantieri Tureddi, Sergio Cutolo of HydroTec, Marco de Jorio of De Jorio Design Swiss, Luca Dini of Luca Dini Design & Architecture, Fabio Ermetto of Cantieri Baglietto, Alfonso Femia of Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia, Paolo Foglizzo of Foglizzo, Francesca Muzio of FM Architettura, Francesco Paszkowski of Francesco Paszkowski Design, Marijana Radovic of M2Atelier, Federico Rossi of Rossinavi, Giorgio Saletti of New Team Interiors and Gian Giacomo Zino of T.
