Aviv Clinic’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chambers

Studio Gad is an Israeli architecture and interior design company founded in 1986 by Gad Halperin.
The studio specialises in the realisation of commercial projects dedicated to hospitality, culture or medical facilities.
It recently collaborated with Aviv Clinics, a world leader in research into age-related cognitive and functional decline and new applications of hyperbaric oxygen medicine to maximise human performance, a medical programme led by Dr Shai Efrati, chairman of Aviv’s scientific and medical council.

Studio Gad was responsible for the architectural design of the clinic’s treatment centre.
Using a visionary approach, the designers created a state-of-the-art hospitality and catering design, redefining the therapeutic experience of a healthcare centre. A careful and in-depth study allowed the creation of a new clinic concept, inspired by the world of aviation. Indeed, the sensory elements and room layouts are reminiscent of a first-class flight environment, making the Aviv Clinics experience entirely unique.

Each hyperbaric suite features a radial, rounded shape that emanates soft, calming light.
The corners of the pods have been created using 3D printing technology, for a seamless result.
Each room is clad in reflective white, while the lighting varies between RGB colour card shades. This feature recalls the anamorphic ability of reptiles, which are able to change their skin tones depending on the climate and stage of life they are in.
The structure thus becomes hydrodynamic and captures the essence of the past and future of medicine.

MODERN JET STYLING is the visual concept incorporated into each capsule, inspired by the characteristics of modern aircraft.
The fabrics and stitching technique of the room divider provide patients with the separation necessary to create a personal space within the treatment area, yet allow for visual contact between guests and communicate a sense of security.
The capsule’s lighting grids and virtual windows permeate spectrums of light that reflect off organic shapes by changing intensity and hues during treatment, giving the feeling of openness and the perception of infinite space outside.

Aviv Clinics will open new locations around the world to offer a three-month medical programme based on an in-depth diagnosis, a personal cognitive and physiological training programme and nutritional coaching to accompany the unique HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment) protocol. The first clinic, a 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in Florida, opened in June 2020, while a second clinic will open in Dubai in the first quarter of 2021.

“We believe that our design work and sensitivities to clients will be a bastion of how design can enhance the medical world in the post-pandemic age.” says Gad Halperin, founder of Studio Gad.
