On Thursday, 23 May 2024 at 5 p.m. Heidelberg Materials will present evoZero, the world’s first net-zero carbon cement, at the Salone d’Onore of the Triennale Milano.
evoZero achieves the goal of carbon neutrality through the use of carbon capture and storage technology at Heidelberg Materials’ plant in Brevik, Norway, without offsetting from credits generated outside the company’s supply chain.
“The launch of a unique product like evoZero represents a paradigm shift in the decarbonisation of the industry,” said Dominik von Achten, Chairman of the Board of Heidelberg Materials. “Carbon capture and storage technology represents a revolution in the building materials industry and we are at the forefront of its large-scale application. With evoZero, we have created the industry’s most innovative product, unique in the world, which we make available to our customers and which enables them to pursue cutting-edge, environmentally friendly construction projects. I am extremely proud of the commitment and passion of all the people who have contributed to our cutting-edge Brevik project.”
evoZero cement will be available in two variants, depending on the customer’s location. evoZero Carbon Captured Brevik is delivered directly from the Brevik CCS cement plant in Norway, and achieves a net-zero footprint throughout its life cycle. Customers in other European countries can choose evoZero Carbon Captured, which will be delivered by their nearest cement plant, taking advantage of the CO2 savings made at Brevik. evoZero Carbon Captured features a net-zero footprint upon delivery.
On 23 May, this innovative product that redefines CO2 reduction standards will be officially presented, guaranteeing optimal quality and performance for cutting-edge, environmentally friendly construction projects.
