De.Tales designs the presidential offices of Ludoil Energy

The international architecture and design firm De.Tales signed the interior design of the presidential offices in Milan for the company Ludoil Energy S.p.A., an integrated energy group operating along the entire value chain, from supply to distribution, from renewables to the circular economy.

We are inside The Medelan, one of the most important historical and architecturally valuable buildings in the city of Milan, dating back to 1901 and originally designed by architects Luigi Broggi and Cesare Nava. In this prestigious context, on the third floor, lies the company’s Headquarters, which, within its approximately 900 square meters, including 130 square meters of outdoor space, has incorporate representation activities and operational needs, therefore favoring a concept with a dual, integrated approach: the first, of a classical matrix, rooted in the Milanese context of late nineteenth/early twentieth-century residential buildings, which reinterprets the recurring typological characteristics of interiors of that time, and the second, defined as contemporary minimalism, playing with volumes, solids, and voids, displaying a streamlined and elegant style.

The result is a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, connected to the image of Ludoil, where cutting- edge lines, materials, and technologies echo intense blue tones and finishes ranging from marble to mirrored metal surfaces, bronzed steel, glass, and ribbed wood.

The space is divided in a rhythmic and articulated manner, with an architectural gesture reminiscent of Milanese interiors from the early twentieth century: the look & feel of the project therefore adopts compositional paradigms and makes use of typical elements of the period, such as patterned parquet flooring, walnut paneling, natural stones and marbles, and ribbed glass finish, which with its semi-transparencies provides privacy while allowing light to flow into the spaces, creating interesting suggestions. The opening of the reception area is comparable to the grand bourgeois residential entrances, with its sculptural elements designed for the desk and waiting area. The corridor is defined as a backbone and distributive element, here reinterpreted as an art gallery.

The alternation of enclosed and open spaces marks the common areas and offices, meeting rooms, the area dedicated to the CEO (equipped with a private meeting room, living area, and operational area), in a sequence interspersed with furnishing choices inspired by private residences, among which are found living rooms with sober tones and bright accents that blend well with the ultramarine tones of the walls. Precisely the blue, the institutional color of Ludoil Energy, embraces the idea of discreet elegance that the spaces want to communicate. Green, here understood as a design element for outdoor areas and decoration for indoor areas, plays the role of interpreter of the company’s sustainable component, which aims at a forward-looking strategy capable of integrating green investments with managed assets, contributing to the country’s energy transition path.

“Working becomes inhabiting, within the Ludoil presidential offices: the compositional approach to the project, inspired by residential but destined for the office context, has defined the genetics of the spaces by enhancing the style and sobriety of Milan and its interiors, but also the dynamism of a major energy group in Italy” – Igor Rebosio and Giuseppe Varsavia, respectively Design Director and Managing Director of De.Tales.
