Architectural studio Barreca & La Varra Varra in collaboration with ITISTUDIO, has renovated a 1970s building, creating a façade that reinterprets the language of Tuscan Renaissance architecture and reworks it in a contemporary key.
The project involved the renovation of the existing building, intended to house the offices of a single tenant, through a general strip-out, numerous structural consolidations, regulatory adaptations, a new façade fit-out and a new layout.
The project stresses the building’s existing horizontal tripartition, distinguishing the different parts in the use of materials and surfaces, without distorting the characteristics of each part. The choice of a limited number of colours and materials and the emphasis on the rhythmic alternation of shadows governed the choices of architectural language.
The building is conceived according to state-of-the-art construction and environmental sustainability criteria, with pursuit of the prestigious LEED certification – Building Design&Construction for Core&Shell, PLATINUM level.
