When Californian style meets Art Deco

The Maybourne Bar opens its doors in The Maybourne Beverly Hills hotel, with a mix of Californian style and Art Deco Glamour. André Fu Studio’s latest project is an elegant bar casket located in the lobby of The Maybourne Beverly Hills hotel.  Like the many other award-winning bars in the Maybourne Hotel Group, this newly opened Maybourne bar promises to bring the quintessential Maybourne cocktail experience from Europe to the West Coast and is sure to become a Beverly Hills destination for design aficionados and cocktail connoisseurs alike. Fu has sought to unite and celebrate different cultures in its bar design, introducing the geometric patterns of the Art Deco era alongside the vibrant colours of the Californian landscape.

Tall bar stools in Yves Klein blue and bold tangerine rest on a black and white Art Deco canvas evoking classic European glamour. Walls of solid walnut panels in charcoal grey and ivory complement the black and white Hollywood photograph of Mary McCartney, while Art Deco-style lamps cast a soft, welcoming light. Inspired by the idea of creating a “hidden gem” in the heart of the hotel, André Fu anchored the space with a bar carved from solid Turkish silver onyx and accented with polished nickel. Intricate metal frames in polished nickel adorn the back bar, which seems to weave through the curation of the liquors on display, evoking a cascading vignette. The fixture is also magically illuminated to create a seductive glow, accentuating the sense of glamour.

Handmade transparent panels by French artisan Pietro Seminelli adorn the backdrop of the bar’s facade, arranged in intricate hand-pleated geometric patterns that bring lightness and elegance to the room. The backdrop of precious materials extends to the intricate white Terrazzo mosaic floor, flanked by silver Emperador marble. The bespoke furniture, crafted from solid walnut, evokes an extravagant interplay of geometry and art deco vignettes. The Maybourne Bar features a cocktail menu full of seasonal interpretations of classic drinks, all handcrafted by award-winning head mixer Chris Amirault. With Maybourne’s impeccable service and attention to detail, this is a place for locals and hotel guests alike.  The music is vibrant and a seersucker-clad bar team in loafers and bare ankles contribute to the lively atmosphere of this new Beverly Hills spot. A convivial and inviting atmosphere for guests that celebrates an innovative and impressive combination.
