Does a renewed idea of modernity exist today?
On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2023, Rimadesio questioned itself on this fundamental theme and proposed its own particular interpretation of it with many interesting novelties, such as the Rialto family dedicated to living, the Altair system of central room storage units, the Air transparent glass door, but also the communication campaign and the magazine Modern Stories, an unpublished account of the collection that includes reflections on modernity by Stefano Salis, Maria Cristina Didero, Giuseppe Lupo and Deyan Sudjic.
Essential architectural spaces, material surfaces and light, luminous shades are the elements with which the new Rimadesio collection proposes its interpretation of modernity. The restyling of the Rimadesio flagship store in Milan, located inside a historic building dating back to the 18th century and restored over time by great names in Italian architecture such as Piero Portaluppi and Francesco Gnecchi Ruscone, also follows this concept.
Designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, the renovated showroom has undergone a major restyling: the exhibition concept plays on a sober and minimalist colour palette, in line with the identity that distinguishes all the single-brand stores in the world. In the space, light becomes a design element in a bright atmosphere with a minimalist aesthetic. The rooms house the new collection and updates of some iconic products: sliding panels, doors, walk-in wardrobes, living and sleeping area systems, tables and accessories.
“The guiding element in the renovation of the flagship store is the desire to lighten the atmosphere with colours inspired by nature, starting with the lime-coloured floor and walls: a vision in line with Rimadesio’s light-filled house philosophy, which aims to play on and enhance the concept of lightness and transparency,” says Bavuso.
Even the woods are lightened and some walls are covered with natural alpine moss, to enhance the collections and immediately communicate the green spirit that has accompanied the company’s design and eco-sustainable choices over the last three decades.
