With great participation and success, the 32nd edition of Proposte, the international furnishing textiles show, came to a close at Villa Erba. For three days, from 6 to 8 May, the historic villa on Lake Como hosted 78 selected exhibitors from 13 countries, who presented their new collections of furnishing fabrics, curtains, trimmings and wall coverings to buyers and trade operators.
The Director of the event, Massimo Mosiello, expressed satisfaction with the overall outcome, confirming a turnout in line with previous editions and emphasising the high quality of the visitors, particularly the buyers. The public was 75% from abroad, with strong representation from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium and Spain. Among the novelties was the participation of operators from Saudi Arabia, testifying to the growing international attractiveness of the fair.
Fundamental was the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which in cooperation with ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian companies, enabled the incoming of 27 selected buyers from 11 countries (including the USA, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, France, Romania, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon) and the participation of 10 international journalists from the trade press.
At the closing of the event, Proposte’s company officers were renewed. Marco Parravicini, Managing Director of Parà, a historic textile company now in its third generation, was appointed as the new Chairman. In his speech, Parravicini described Proposte as ‘an international benchmark for excellence in furnishing textiles’, declaring his intention to consolidate and strengthen the fair’s position on the global stage. Heartfelt thanks were extended to the outgoing President, Alessandro Tessuto, for his work.
Also confirmed in the board of directors were Matteo Cavelli, owner of Mario Cavelli, and Alberto Paccanelli, Managing Director of the Martinelli Ginetto Group and Honorary President of Euratex. Paccanelli described Proposte as a ‘niche fair with a strategic positioning’, essential for the enhancement of the entire furnishing textiles sector.
Also expressing satisfaction was Comocrea Interni, the parallel event dedicated to textile designers, which has been held alongside Proposte for the past three years. President Stuart Sartori emphasised the importance of the synergy between designers and exhibitors, from which lasting collaborations and opportunities for creative development arise.
Finally, Claudio Taiana, President of Villa Erba S.p.A., reiterated the importance of the event for the territory: ‘Proposte is a flagship, an international showcase that enhances experimentation in textiles and generates a concrete impact on the local economy.
Finally, Director Mosiello announced that the next edition of Proposte will be held on 5, 6 and 7 May 2026, confirming Villa Erba as the official venue for the 2027 and 2028 editions as well, testifying to the solidity of the partnership and the continuity of the exhibition project.
