The eleventh edition of Pordenone Design Week, the event dedicated to Design, will take place from Monday 7th to Friday 11th March.
An important moment of cultural exchange between the education system and the production system, which for the entire week will see Pordenone transformed into an expanded think tank for discussion and creativity and questioning the new challenges facing the social, production and industrial systems, a prelude to the creation of a “city of design”.
The aim of the event is in fact to act as a central pivot for the themes of Contemporary Design and its role in the complex challenges of the future.
The key themes of this edition, sustainability and complexity, will be addressed in the workshops scheduled during the week, in which the students of the three-year Isia Roma Design degree course at the Pordenone headquarters, as well as selected students from local secondary schools, will create ad hoc projects with the involvement of numerous partner companies.
The event will be opened by Alberto Felice De Toni, professor and scientific director of Cuoa Business School, formerly Rector of the University of Udine, with a lecture entitled “Sustainability does not cost: an opportunity to be seized in the complexity of the future”.
The event will also be the setting for the “Premio Eccellenze del Design Fvg“, with the presentation of an award to 20 projects and designers from Friuli-Venezia Giulia selected in the Adi Design Index 2020 and 2021, who will compete for the XXVII Compasso d’Oro award next June.
Thursday 10th March, as per tradition of Pordenone Design Week, will be the day dedicated to the Lessons in the Showcase and design will enter the city thanks to the participation and involvement of some shops in the historic centre.
