The Bovisa – Goccia Masterplan, designed by architect Renzo Piano, was presented by the Politecnico di Milano in the presence of municipal institutions.
It is an intervention that will cover a total area of 32 hectares, owned by the Municipality of Milan (23.4 hectares) and the Politecnico di Milano (9.1 hectares), which thus expands its campus with the creation of a science park and an innovation hub with areas dedicated to services for students, businesses and citizens.
VIVA Consulting – a firm specializing in building and architectural acoustics – was commissioned by the university to follow all the acoustic engineering phases necessary for the urban redevelopment of the “Gasometers Park” in Milan, adjacent and interconnected to the area called “La Goccia,” the subject of the master plan by arch. Renzo Piano, and future extension of the current Bovisa Campus of the Milanese University. These are, in fact, two former gasometers that will be converted, the first in mixed use, from offices and meeting rooms to a swimming pool and gyms while the second in offices, laboratories and auditorium.
VIVA Consulting followed both the acoustic impact prediction (regarding the facilities serving the gasometers) and the acoustic design of all stratigraphy in order to comply with legal limits and the Minimum Environmental Criteria on sound insulation.
Work is scheduled to begin in late 2023 and be completed in 2026.
