In contemporary bathroom design, the theme of surfaces is taking on an increasingly central role. Colour, material and finishes are no longer simply aesthetic choices, but real design tools through which to define atmospheres, identities and perceptions of space. This is the backdrop for the research carried out by Ceramica Globo, an Italian company that for years has been developing a programme of experimentation capable of expanding the expressive language of ceramics, transforming it into an active element of interior design.
This vision has given rise to a complex system of finishes that explores the chromatic and material potential of ceramic surfaces through three distinct but complementary areas of expression: Bagno di Colore, Riflessi di Luce and Le Pietre. These three interpretations of the material offer designers and interior designers different tools for creating scenarios that are consistent with the needs of contemporary living.
With Bagno di Colore, ceramics take on a soft and enveloping dimension thanks to a velvety matt finish that is silky to both the eye and the touch. This proposal stands out for its wide colour palette, which includes eighteen shades applied to washbasins, furnishing accessories and bathtubs made of Livingtec®. These also include the new Azalea, Royal Blue, Cream and Veronese variants, which further expand the compositional possibilities of the project. These are complemented by seven special variants – Matt Black and White, Agate, Chestnut, Fern, Brick and Smoke – available for sanitary ware, Simple Fiber® bathtubs and DOCCIAPIETRA h3 shower trays made of Tekorstone®.
The Bagno di Colore range offers an alternative design choice to traditional white, with shades that create warmer, more personal environments. The colours are inspired by the natural world: shades that evoke flowers, the depths of night or the tones of the earth and Mediterranean landscapes, allowing you to create atmospheres suitable for both residential and contract contexts.
While Bagno di Colore interprets ceramics through a matt and textured dimension, the Riflessi di Luce finish explores the expressive power of the glossy surface. In this case, the full and compact glaze creates a particularly bright and deep surface, bringing the ceramics closer to the brilliance of crystal. The result is a play of reflections that enhances shapes and geometries, visually amplifying the volumes of the elements.
The shades in the Riflessi di Luce range are designed to evoke symbolic references to nature and its elements – earth, metals, sky and sea – and are enriched with new colour variations such as Cherry, Lavender and Sand. These delicate, contemporary shades are in tune with the latest interior design trends and allow you to introduce refined accents to your bathroom design. The finish is available for all elements of the Gisele furniture system, as well as for a wide selection of ceramic washbasins and countertops, and is also used in the Olivia floor-mounted urinal designed by Giulio Iacchetti.
The research into surfaces is completed by the Le Pietre collection, which interprets the theme of matter through textures and colours inspired by the world of stone. In this proposal, the ceramic takes on a visual and tactile character that recalls the solidity of rock and the natural irregularity of stone, creating surfaces rich in depth and nuances. The result is a balance between formal simplicity and sensory intensity, in which the material takes centre stage without compromising the clean lines.
Through these three families of finishes, Globo continues its journey of innovation in bathroom design, demonstrating how research into colour and materials can expand the expressive potential of ceramics. The bathroom is thus transformed into a complete design space, where surfaces, volumes and colours contribute to defining the identity of the contemporary home environment.
