“ANAMORPHOSIS – Revealing Beauty” is an author’s proof celebrating the art of bespoke carpentry, interpreted through an ultra-contemporary lens, conceived by Fabio Mazzeo Architects for Antonacci Falegnamerie at its first participation in the Salone del Mobile.
The installation within the exhibition space is intended to be an unprecedented fusion of tradition and design innovation at a time when authenticity and originality are becoming priorities in contemporary design. The architects’ imagination takes shape in the skilful hands of the craftsmen of Antonacci Falegnamerie, a company with consolidated experience in woodworking and high-end contract furniture to realise the most ambitious and customised projects.
The exhibition, therefore, pays homage to ‘made in Italy’, to quality creativity and attention to detail, to manual skills, to the heritage of experience passed down from generation to generation, and to the ability to create a network of high-end craftsmen capable of tackling any project. The installation designed by Fabio Mazzeo is a new energetic aesthetic experiment, a short-circuit of deliberately dissonant compositional stylistic elements, where contemporary fragmentation bursts out emerging from surfaces covered with rigorous classical boiserie in a counterpoint of materials, textures and decorations that impresses and enraptures the eye. Particular emphasis is placed on the evolved and precious finishes that Antonacci Falegnamerie creates following the most daring design experiments. Fabio Mazzeo has also designed all the furnishings that animate it, through a play of formal references, colour contrasts and changing geometries. Vertical meets horizontal, upholstery is transformed into furniture.
The work “ANAMORPHOSIS – Revealing Beauty” is an invitation to immerse oneself in craftsmanship, to “listen” to the raw material and contemplate the transformation of wood into a unique work. Characteristic of the installation is the use of solid wood that, with manual and machine processing techniques, recreates material textures and shapes with a particular tactile effect, an alternation of wax-treated panels and dyed panels of different sizes.
Antonacci Falegnamerie has been collaborating for years with Fabio Mazzeo Architects, with whom it has created unique, complex and high quality works. The company, in fact, represents a true interpreter between the designer and the finished work, enhancing the creative process through manual expression, where thought takes centre stage and where hands become protagonists. The hands of expert craftsmen expressing the intelligence of know-how, an experiential intelligence. Touching matter, feeling it, knowing how to use and enhance it.
