Villa Radici: a signature restoration

Nestled in the pine forest of Forte dei Marmi, the Augustus Hotel & Resort unveils Villa Radici, a new high-end hospitality project that blends the historic charm of Liberty-style architecture with a contemporary vision of living.

Built in the 1930s for Barbara Radici, sister of Augusta Pesenti (founder of the Augustus), the villa overlooks the iconic red avenue leading to the resort. The recent restoration is part of the Augustus Hotel & Resort’s broader mission to enhance its historic buildings, serving as a model of integration between conservation and design reinterpretation.

The intervention, led by Discreet Architecture and the international studio De.Tales, involved the entire structure with a tailor-made approach that resulted in highly personalized interiors. Every space—from the seven suites to the common areas spread across two floors—has been reimagined to offer comfort, spaciousness, and natural light, all while respecting the historical and stylistic context.

The villa’s original architectural features—sweeping arches and generous volumes—have been accentuated by a color palette inspired by the surrounding nature and the visual codes of the era: interwoven patterns, stripes, velvets, and textures that blend geometric and figurative motifs. Vintage furnishings and iconic design pieces—such as a 1940s Barovier & Toso chandelier, the Quadrifoglio lamp by Gae Aulenti for Guzzini, and the Leggera chair by Gio Ponti for Cassina—dialogue with 20th-century artworks.

Villa Radici embodies the philosophy of “living in a villa” that has always defined the identity of Augustus Hotel & Resort: a model of widespread hospitality built on privacy, freedom, and bespoke services. Starting July 2025, the villa will be open to guests, offering an intimate and sophisticated stay experience in a place suspended between past and present.

Founded in 1953, the Augustus Hotel & Resort has been a key player in Forte dei Marmi and Versilia for over 70 years. With its villas, expansive park, and storied heritage, this five-star resort is the ideal place to experience the artistic, natural, and social richness of the region.
