Velvet and Velvet Plus make up the new line of bioclimatic pergolas with retractable roof by Gibus, a leading company in Italy in the field of outdoor design and sun protection. The collection enriches and further expands the top range of the company’s offer, which also includes the Varia, Twist, Joy and Movie models.
Velvet and Velvet Plus represent a true model of hi-tech at the service of outdoor comfort. The two new bioclimatic pergolas offer a retractable cover with two degrees of freedom, thanks to which very different situations can be created. With the Velvet models, it is possible to choose between a fully closed, oriented or wrap-around enclosure: The blades that make up the latter can be positioned at zero degrees, i.e. horizontally, for complete shading and maximum protection from atmospheric agents; they can also be oriented up to 85°, i.e. vertically, to create an ideal microclimate under the pergola, allowing light and air to diffuse in the desired quantity; finally, once tilted, the blades can also be packaged, to benefit from total luminosity and enjoy the infinite beauty of the sky.
Velvet and Velvet Plus are designer outdoor furnishing solutions with great design versatility, thanks to the possibility of assembling customisable modules in a wide range of combinations, in island, front or side-mounted versions. Distinguished by a solid, powder-coated extruded aluminium structure, the new pergolas combine excellent technical performance with an essential, contemporary design, capable of fitting skilfully into any architectural and landscaping context, giving life to highly aesthetic outdoor spaces.
The two models differ mainly in one characteristic: Velvet Plus guarantees the complete integration in the structure of zip-screen enclosures to be used as screens to avoid the greenhouse effect in the warmer months, and at the same time allows the latter to be combined with glass enclosures, for use of the pergola even in the cooler months or in the event of strong winds. The Velvet model, on the other hand, can also be enhanced by screens and glazing, but these must be applied and cannot be present at the same time.
Designed, like all Gibus solutions, to increase people’s quality of life, this new line can also be enhanced by a series of exceptional comforts, starting from the LED lighting system with white or coloured light, to enjoy the pergola even in the evening, to the heaters, to savour the beauty of outdoor spaces even in the less warm periods, or the audio system, which can be operated directly from the music player of choice (Spotify, Apple Music…) via Bluetooth connection.
The great versatility of the Velvet and Velvet Plus proposals is the result of great research and cutting-edge technology, the fruit of Gibus’s assiduous commitment to directing its Research & Development team towards the highest objectives: the (patent pending) Velvet Motion system, thanks to which the blade rotation and wrapping movements are independent of each other. This system, which is extremely advanced both from an electronic and mechanical point of view, allows for a dual mechanical movement, generated by two different types of motors: on the one hand, a linear motor that activates the rotation, moving a drive bar that allows the blades to orient themselves from 0 to 85°; on the other hand, a gear motor that activates a rotating system on the transmission belt, which drags a series of trolleys connected to pantographs integrated in the lateral perimeter of the structure and in turn connected to the blades.
Gibus’ two new pergola models, in addition to Velvet Motion, are also equipped with the patented Side Seal technology which, when the roof is closed, ensures perimeter insulation of the blades resting on a seal along the inner edge and allows total insulation from the outside environment, achieving the best possible performance in terms of weather resistance.
