Underline35’: the exhibition promoted by Genoa Design Week that gives a voice to young design talents

The new edition of “Underline35” confirms the DiDe Association’s commitment to promoting young design talent and enhancing creativity among the under-35s as a genuine driver of innovation. This initiative sees the renewal of the collaboration with the ADI Design Museum, which will host the exhibition from November 24 to 30, offering emerging designers a prestigious national showcase. The DIDE – Genoa Design District, created on the initiative of residents and professionals in the Piazza dei Giustiniani area, continues to promote urban regeneration through cultural projects capable of activating new social and economic energies, enhancing the architectural heritage, and spreading design as a tool for innovation and territorial transformation. Among its most important activities is Genoa Design Week, within which the Call Under 35 is now a highly anticipated and recognized event.

Underline35 brings together the winning and shortlisted projects from the Call Under 35/2025, now in its third edition, and was created under the curatorship of architect Laura Palazzini, co-founder of the DiDe Association and head of the call, with the support of young designer Pietro Ambrosi. The aim is to offer emerging designers opportunities for visibility, networking, and professional growth, strengthening the role of youth creativity on the national scene. During Genoa Design Week, the initiative took shape in an exhibition spread throughout the historic center, now recognized as the Design District, transformed into an immersive journey through alleys and ancient atriums thanks to site-specific installations created to enhance places and materials. The theme of GDW 2025, ‘Materia’ (Matter), was interpreted from perspectives that intertwined innovation, sustainability, and reflections on design as a social as well as a formal process.

The jury that selected the projects brought together representatives from the Order of Architects of Genoa, the University of Genoa – Department of Architecture and Design, ADI Liguria, together with professionals Gianandrea Barreca from the Barreca & La Varra studio and interior designer Alberto Vanin. The project was supported by Enrico Gollo through Ergo Design and the technical collaboration of A4ADesign, which provided recycled cardboard furniture in line with the values of sustainability and respect for the environment that characterize the initiative.

Attention now turns to Genoa Design Week 2026, scheduled for June 3-7, which has chosen “Equilibrium” as the theme for its seventh edition. This theme becomes a tool for exploring the relationship between nature and science, between human intuition and artificial intelligence, inviting designers and visitors to reflect on new forms of harmony in contemporary design. As Elisabetta Rossetti, president of DiDe, points out, the event will continue to be an open, inclusive, and dynamic urban laboratory, capable of weaving together talent, creativity, and innovation and contributing to the continuous regeneration of the District.
