The project designed by od’a – officina d’architettura

The recently completed Baia Station stands as an infrastructure regeneration project that interprets public mobility as an opportunity to redefine the relationship between architecture, urban space, and landscape. Designed by od’a – officina d’architettura, the project is set within the sensitive context of the Campi Flegrei, an area deeply layered from historical, natural, and urban perspectives.

The intervention moves beyond the idea of the station as a mere place of transit, transforming it into a civic infrastructure capable of establishing an active relationship with its surroundings. Baia Station thus becomes an open, recognizable, and accessible urban device, conceived to accommodate the daily flows of commuters and residents while restoring spatial quality to an often marginal area.

The project focuses on clear spatial organization and legibility, with particular attention to the user experience. Circulation paths are intuitive, waiting areas are bright and well proportioned, and the overall layout aims to make the infrastructure immediately understandable and easy to use. The architecture adopts an essential and controlled language, avoiding iconic gestures in favor of a measured presence that is coherent with the surrounding landscape.

Materials, natural light, and the articulation of volumes contribute to shaping a restrained yet expressive architecture, capable of engaging in dialogue with the Phlegraean territory without imposing itself upon it. The station thus assumes a mediating role between infrastructure and landscape, movement and pause, functional necessity and public value.
