A balance between structural lightness and a contemporary vision of work: the new technical offices of Boffi Spa in Lentate sul Seveso reinterpret the very idea of a productive workspace. Designed by architect Andrea Gerosa and engineer-architect Franco Gerosa of Studio Gerosa, the project redefines the usability and meaning of corporate environments.
The client requested an extension of the existing building without reducing the floor area of the production department or occupying the outdoor parking areas. The design response was to introduce seven suspended volumes along the southern façade of the building, aligned with the existing window bays.
Each module, approximately 36 m², extends beyond ground level, completely freeing up the space below. The composition is both harmonious and distinctive, an architectural gesture that reflects the evolution of Boffi’s industrial identity. The new suspended structures engage with natural light through large glazed façades, enhancing indoor environmental quality while reducing energy consumption. Motorized solar screens regulate light and heat intake, ensuring comfort and well-being for those working inside.
From a technical standpoint, the prefabricated steel structure, assembled dry, enabled a rapid construction process without disrupting ongoing production activities. Corrugated insulated metal floors and roofs, insulated wall panels, and plasterboard interior finishes guarantee high thermal and acoustic performance.
The intervention gives the building a new identity, representative of a corporate philosophy that combines tradition and innovation, design and technology. Fittingly, the project received an Honourable Mention at the Premio Maestri Comacini 2025.
