Stone as a narrative of the Mediterranean. Materials and design in the Pimar collection

In Salento, natural stone is much more than just a material: it is memory, identity, and a design language. This is the setting for Pimar, a company that for over 150 years has been working with stone, transforming it into architecture, surfaces, and objects that capture the essence of the Mediterranean, giving life to a tradition of craftsmanship deeply rooted in the region. Today, the company operates at the intersection of architecture and design with a contemporary approach.

Through Atelier Pimar, the division dedicated to home accessories, the material is reinterpreted in a modern key, keeping the sensory dimension and the connection to the landscape at the center. This vision will find its expression at the Salone del Mobile 2026, where Pimar presents a new bathroom collection inspired by the Mediterranean. Here the reference is not only geographical but cultural: light, simplicity, and materiality intertwine in a concept of experiencing the Mediterranean that finds its most authentic form of expression in the farmhouse. These structures, built with local materials, are designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, creating spaces that are minimalist yet deeply textural, where architecture and nature become part of a single narrative.

In this context, even the bathroom becomes an integral part of the design: not merely a functional space, but an environment in which materials, light, and proportions combine to create a sensory experience. Part of the collection stems from a collaboration with Ramón Esteve Estudio, whose minimalist aesthetic highlights the relationship between material, light, and form. This dialogue finds its fullest expression in projects such as Secolario, designed by architect Toti Semerano. Here, the restoration of an old farmhouse becomes a contemporary narrative: natural stone shapes spaces, surfaces, and atmospheres, in harmony with local elements such as olive wood. More than just a collection, what Pimar presents is a material narrative of the Mediterranean: an invitation to rediscover a way of living where nature, architecture, and culture coexist in harmony, restoring stone to its original role as a living, identity-defining element.
