Steel at the Service of Design

Imagine an innovative technology capable of revolutionizing the concept of metal surfaces through custom digital printing on steel, thereby offering endless creative possibilities for architects, designers, and interior designers.
Born from the R&D division of the Marcegaglia Group, a world leader in steel processing, Cromatica is already a reality, enabling the creation of decorative coatings with custom colors, textures, opacities, and patterns, right down to the reproduction of bespoke images.

Thanks to digital printing technology and collaboration with leading European ink and paint manufacturers, Cromatica offers unprecedented creative freedom for both interior and exterior applications, including the facades of residential and commercial buildings, office complexes, hotels, and sports facilities; showroom interiors; home appliances and street furniture; and transport vehicles such as yachts and cruise ships.
Beyond its aesthetic impact, Cromatica guarantees a solution that combines design, performance, and durability, thanks to 100% recyclable steel, strictly controlled supply chains, inorganic inks, and coil-coating paints that ensure long-lasting resistance, even in adverse environmental conditions.

The company looks to the future, with an eye toward future generations. B-Palace Art is, in fact, the competition promoted by Cromatica Marcegaglia in collaboration with Sandrini Metalli, aimed at students at universities and design and architecture academies, dedicated to the secondary surfaces of buildings.
The contest invites participants to identify the “B-side” (blind facades, side elevations, peripheral surfaces) and reinterpret it through the use of steel as a cladding material and as an element capable of embodying identity and architectural expression. You can view the selected projects from B-Palace Art 2025 at this link.
B-Palace Art 2026 has already opened its call for entries: projects for this new edition can be uploaded to the website until June 9. The selected projects will then be exhibited and presented by the students at B-CAD 2026 – International Construction, Architecture, and Design Fair, scheduled to take place in Rome from September 4th to 6th, 2026.
