SENSITALIANI, the project to promote Italian design

SENSITALIANI is the result of the collaboration between POLI.design, founded by Politecnico di Milano, and the Italian Embassy in Kuwait, an international project for the promotion of Italian design that, through a ten-month path, tells its history and peculiarities as a multidisciplinary set of skills, creativity, research and entrepreneurship.

From March to December 2021, SENSITALIANI, under the scientific direction of Professor Anna Barbara, will promote three main activities, aimed at design students and professionals in Kuwait, interested in Italian culture.
interested in Italian culture. The first part of the programme will consist of two cycles of lectures and online conferences on aspects of design of common interest to both countries, followed by a study tour to Italy for the participants.

The guiding theme of the project will be “Italian senses” – sight, but also hearing, smell, touch and taste – through which the beauty of Italian culture, from art to design, but also fashion, theatre, cinema, cuisine, nature, sport and more, will be presented. In fact, design is intended not only as a commercial vehicle for companies in the sector, but above all as a cultural engine to promote Italy and the “Country System” in its broadest sense: cultural, artistic, social, economic and educational.

The project will end with an award ceremony for the students and the presentation of the final works together with the realisation of materials, interviews, photographs and videos created during all the phases of the project. POLI.design, together with the School of Design and the Department of Design, forms the Design System of Politecnico di Milano, one of the Top Universities in the world, today present in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2021 in first place in Italy, third in Europe and fifth in the world in the Art&design category.

The Ambassador of Italy in Kuwait, Carlo Baldocci, stressed that the initiative has met with great interest in Kuwait, where Italian Design is a very significant part of the interaction between the two countries and is destined to further expand the Italy-Kuwait dialogue and opportunities for collaboration. On this occasion, Ambassador Baldocci also expressed his appreciation for the strong interest in the initiative by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Kuwait and the American University of the Middle-East “AUM” in Kuwait.
