RAK-Remal

Talent, experience, and imagination are the key words in the new journey of RAK Ceramics, the international brand among the world’s largest ceramic manufacturers, which launches the RAK-Remal collection, a new bathroom line created in collaboration with Sahar Madanat, one of the Middle East’s most emerging and talented product designers.
The collection, which will be launched in the coming months, was previewed at the ISH international trade fair in Frankfurt, which is dedicated to the best new products coming to the bathroom world. RAK-Remal is inspired by the dynamic shapes of sand dunes shaped by the wind, resulting in a sculptural design. “The collection was born from a moment of tranquility, imagining the feeling one gets among beautiful sand dunes,” the designer says. “The stillness of the space and the soft shapes of the golden sand surrounding us. The open sky and the wind brushing the face. Every aspect of the collection is designed to bring people closer to this feeling, to that raw, organic and inspiring movement that sand gives. The impressions in the sand represent moments, memories and emotions.” The earthy, natural look is achieved in all the sinks in the collection by means of two different finishes: Glossy White and Mica White, a new artistic glaze obtained by adding Mica particles into the mix (Moscow mineral). RAK-Remal’s extracomfortable sanitary ware also features Reelflush, the new extremely quiet double-wash technology that provides significant water savings.
In addition to a strong relationship with nature, Sahar Madanat advocates through her work the importance of the role in design of women, who in homes and families make most of the purchasing and furnishing decisions. The designer is convinced that it is no longer enough to celebrate history, but that it is necessary to take design out of the chorus by creating a dialogue with audiences around the world. This is precisely why her way of designing is very contaminated and communicates great love for North African and Middle Eastern cultures. These elements are also clearly found in the collaboration with RAK Ceramics “Our culture is very much about a sense of community, generosity and heritage” comments Sahar Madanat. “I inherited empathy for others and awareness that my decisions-actions as a designer could have an effect on the community. I feel a strong sense of responsibility to the MENA (Middle East And North Africa) community”.
