Racines: the textile collection by LUMA x Élitis that intertwines roots and innovation

Racines, the new textile collection created by LUMA x Élitis through the Atelier LUMA laboratory, is the result of a fruitful dialogue between research and creativity. Racines is not just a project, but a journey that reinterprets design with a bioregional perspective, transforming local resources into contemporary materials rooted in the territory. At the heart of the collection is Arles merino wool, processed with the involvement of a regional industrial ecosystem and accompanied by a colour palette obtained from living organisms and agricultural co-products, reflecting a strong commitment to traceability and sustainability.
The joint work between the creative teams and visits to the various production sites ensured high quality and consistency throughout the entire process, giving life to fabrics that tell the story of their origins. Ariane Dalle, Élitis’ textile artistic director, has woven her vision with the experimental approach of Atelier LUMA, creating new channels of supply and transformation and enhancing what the nature of the place offers in abundance. The result is a collection that evokes the landscapes of Arles, from the Camargue to the Alpilles, with textures, patterns and shades that convey the memory and vitality of the region.

Racines thus becomes a production model that focuses on natural cycles and local cultures, ushering in a new paradigm for the textile sector. LUMA Arles, with its international vocation and its role as a creative campus, confirms its status as fertile ground for research into languages and practices that intertwine design, natural resources and craftsmanship. In the textile laboratory of Atelier LUMA, every fibre and every colour is explored for its expressive potential, bringing to light previously unseen qualities.
The use of natural regional dyes ultimately gives the collection a vibrant and organic aesthetic identity. The delicate and multifaceted colour palette reflects not only the richness of the territory but also a new conception of fabric as a living material in constant transformation. Racines thus presents itself as a project that combines roots and contemporaneity, research and poetry, offering a glimpse of the possibility of a more conscious and sustainable textile future.
