Performance iN Lighting illuminates Marlegno’s new sustainable headquarters

Marlegno has inaugurated a new headquarters in Calcinate, in the Bergamo area, representing a significant step in the company’s growth and confirming its commitment to timber construction that combines quality, speed of construction and attention to the environment. The complex covers a production area of 12,000 square metres and includes an office building made entirely of wood, covering over 2,000 square metres, designed to facilitate future expansion and built according to criteria that have enabled it to obtain LEED GOLD certification. The building, born from the vision of architect Riccardo Minelli of ARCHIlabs, is characterised by an essential architectural language, dominated by clean lines and a balanced relationship between wood, the company’s signature material, reinforced concrete and glass surfaces, in a continuous interplay between transparency and solidity. The main volume is distinguished by the presence of a reinforced concrete partition that intertwines with projecting wooden volumes, animated by rigorous openings that find softness in their angles and interact with the natural light that permeates the interior spaces.

A central role is played by the lighting design, developed with PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING products, which has helped to enhance spaces and functions with solutions that guarantee energy efficiency and visual quality. The outdoor areas are illuminated by controlled light with no upward dispersion thanks to INDEX+ bollards, winners of the iF Design Award 2025, which contribute to protecting the night sky. The entrances are distinguished by suspended and ceiling compositions of SL713PL ROUND LED and SL713AB ROUND LED luminaires, capable of creating welcoming and striking lighting effects. The showroom and offices benefit from customised configurations of SL764+ PL and SL787+ PL light channels, developed using the LIGHT PERFORMER configurator: in the showroom, these shapes outline quadrangular geometries that highlight the products on display, while in the workspaces, direct light supports daily work and indirect light enhances the texture of the wood ceiling.

Flexibility in meeting rooms is ensured by PLATO 600 MP luminaires integrated into the false ceilings, which allow the lighting to be adjusted according to the activities taking place, while the corridors are illuminated by downlights of various sizes, such as ELIA AL and DL ROUND MIDI. Safety and comfort in passageways and stairways are ensured by WL260 SQUARE luminaires, installed on walls or ceilings. The entire project was developed using parametric BIM modelling, which facilitated coordination between architecture, systems engineering and lighting design, allowing for rapid verification of interactions between elements and the achievement of high standards in terms of energy sustainability and quality of execution.
