At the Salone del Mobile 2025, Vermobil presents Vera, the new outdoor collection designed by Patrick Norguet to combine contemporary design, functionality, comfort and resistance. Made of galvanized and painted steel, this seat is designed to meet the needs of those looking for an elegant, practical and durable furniture for outdoor spaces.
The collaboration between the Umbrian company and the famous designer began about a year ago. Patrick Norguet recounts his meeting with Vermobil: “I’m happy to be in Italy every time, because you conserve the production, you protect the savoir-faire, you mantain the feeling of doing something with beautiful things. And here in Vermobil we have a lot of ecosystems to produce metal, fabric, glass, a lot of things…it’s a love story all the time, with the Italian companies.
When I met Roberto he asked my opinion about Vermobil. It’s an old school, a very good company from the north of Roma, and once I visited the production we decide to do something together, and to upgrade the company with more products, with sexier products, and we started last year”.
The designer goes on talking about production: “You understand the savoir-faire when you visit a manufacturer, when you observe these old guys knowing perfectly how to work metal. I love this because to develop a design, for me, is not only to send a drawing, we spend a lot of time together to develop the product. This is my job, this is the reason why I travel a lot, because every week I’m in the production with the guys to develop the product. This is what I do and this is the reason why we are here”.
Vera symbolizes an idea of timeless beauty, lightness and freedom, able to accompany every moment of life outdoors with discretion and elegance. The galvanized and painted steel gives it strength and lightness, while the magnetic cushion and batyline fabric back add a touch of intelligent comfort, designed for those who love to live open spaces with style and spontaneity. The steel handle, thin and distinctive, makes it easy to move, ready to welcome new experiences in any place.
“This chair is Vera, It was a very old school chair. They don’t sell it anymore and the idea was to refresh it, to make a restyle. I spend time with it, I kept one in my studio in Paris and I’ve analyzed the product and I’ve redesigned it, in order to reintroduce modernity in this classic chair”.
Patrick Norguet also presents Meltemi, a collection consisting of modular sofa, lounge, dining chair, table, low table. A project born on the idea of modularity and substitutability of materials: to the aluminium structures, in fact, can be combined elements in metal (also enamelled), rope, fabric, wood or ceramic to complete the product and give it a personal and unique imprint.
“Meltemi it’s the first complete collection I designed to upgrade and to give to the company more and more comfort in terms of the sensuality of the product. There’s a system of sofa you can combine and organize the space with this sofa; there’s a dining chair with this new table. I think the table is very cool, I like it because again there is a very old school finishing. When I finished this table, I said, “wow, the top can be in concrete”, but everybody do that in the outdoor. So I chose something very more economical, recycling, un-scratchable, with a nice texture, with nice emotion. And this table, it’s cool and also long lasting. And this is maybe one of the most important points of a furniture, I guess. And maybe this is the very luxury things nowadays to build”.
Speaking about his creative process, Patrick Norguet states: “My best ambassador is the product, and my job is to design for company, not to design for me. It’s a big difference sometimes. My passion in this job is to discover the company, the people, the owner, the CEO. And this is timeless. It’s an attitude. Every product is an exercise for me. I clean my mind, I restart with a white page all the time, I prefer to restart and to analyze the context of the company, the brand. To be a designer, you have to experiment, to travel, to meet people, to smell a lot of things. You have to be a creative person”.
