Park Lane New York

The design studio Yabu Pushelberg was commissioned two years ago with the complete renovation of one of New York’s landmarks, the Park Lane New York hotel. With the aim of preserving and bringing back the true soul of the hotel, the studio analysed every aspect of Park Lane’s eccentric and intense history, shaping a design language around it that contributes to a new definition of the entire Central Park South area.

At the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, Park Lane New York occupies one of the key points of Manhattan’s geography and iconography, enjoying one of the most prized locations with unparalleled views of Central Park. In conceiving a new identity for Park Lane New York, Studio Yabu Pushelberg wanted to ensure that the building would continue to shine as a jewel in the context of the neighbourhood.

Yabu Pushelberg began the creative process with a deep immersion into the spirit of the place, its culture and heritage, with a perspective at once intimate and global on how people choose to live today and in the future. For the Park Lane, the studio focused on the hotel’s vibrant history and rediscovered its original language, which was used to formulate a new conceptualisation of the building into a dynamic narrative that resonates not only aesthetically, but in deeper accord with each guest’s emotional experience.
