Origini is the new Abitzai project, which proposes the study of a new alphabet in which material signs, textures, and barely sketched designs are elements and visions of a contemporary world in constant change. Reality and imagination mix and give life to landscapes, which appear suspended between appearance and memory. The designs of Areale and Tibula are produced using high-quality craftsmanship techniques with the application of coloured and metallic glazes on the porcelain stoneware base.
The collections are available in two formats: full field on 60×120 tiles and semi-full with vertical cut, also in the 60×120 format. The surfaces enhance the interiors, thanks to plays of light and
colour, the shades range from neutral-warm to sea green, from earthy terracotta to volcanic anthracite. The structures are rich in tactile and material signs that come to life with natural light. Areale declines with a filigree of fluid forms that reveal unknown ways of communicating, signs of a new alphabet combining an ancient vision with a modern, universal language.
Instead, Tibula evokes the ancient Sardinian city, streets and tales of ancestral stories and forgotten traditions, a place of the imagination, a city of traces. Essentzia gives shape to a unique style with a porcelain stoneware that combines the refinement of natural colours with a raw earth effect texture, recalling the historical tradition of Mediterranean façades and the art of weaving. Ceramica Mediterranea is the only Italian manufacturer of porcelain stoneware at km 0: all raw materials are extracted and processed in Sardinia. The company adopts a circular economy model with renewable energy, heat recovery, dry milling, waste recycling and water reduction, in full respect of the “6R” principle: respect, recycle, reduce, save, reuse, revive.
