The City of Rome and the Agenzia del Demanio are launching Corrente Urbana, a design and placemaking workshop curated by Stratosferica, taking place in April 2025. The initiative aims to spark a creative and strategic rethinking of the Lungotevere, specifically the area around Porta Portese.
Corrente Urbana is addressed to young professionals under 40 – architects, urban planners, designers, PhD candidates, and researchers – who are interested in contributing to the transformation of one of Rome’s most iconic urban corridors.
The workshop will run from 14 to 18 April 2025, with a final presentation day scheduled for 5 May 2025. Participants will engage in fieldwork, stakeholder listening sessions, lectures by international experts, and intensive co-design activities.
The goal is to develop an innovative and shared vision for the Lungotevere as a strategic public space that fosters social interaction, new uses, and urban regeneration.
The call is open to 25 selected participants under the age of 40 with backgrounds in architecture, urban planning, design, territorial studies, research, or related fields.
Participation in the workshop allows for the recognition of Professional Training Credits (CFP) for architects (currently being defined).
Applications are open until 4 April 2025.
