On the fifth floor of the new Social Hub in Viale Belfiore, a 50-metre swimming pool overlooks the rooftops of Florence, offering an unusual and spectacular view of the city. It is not only a space dedicated to swimming and relaxation for hotel guests and the international community that populates it, but also a project that marks a step forward in the way aquatic facilities are conceived.
The project was designed by Myrtha Pools, an Italian company known worldwide for the design of swimming facilities in both the sporting and architectural fields. Unlike concrete pools, a modular stainless steel system was used here, which is lighter and more sustainable, capable of reducing structural loads and ensuring much faster installation times. This is a fundamental aspect in a context such as the rooftop of The Social Hub, where weight and safety constraints require precision engineering solutions. The bottom of the pool was made with Myrtha Skin, a steel membrane that ensures waterproofing and durability, creating a swimming pool made entirely of metal that is both resistant and refined.
Completing the work is the waterfall overflow edge, which amplifies the feeling of well-being and offers users an aesthetic as well as functional experience. Perfect for a refreshing swim or workout thanks to its Olympic-sized dimensions, the pool at The Social Hub Florence is not only a spectacular venue that enriches the guest experience: it is the symbol of a contemporary, constructive approach, where engineering and architecture come together to create iconic spaces. A demonstration of how technological innovation can make possible what would have been almost unthinkable with traditional methods: a 50-metre oasis suspended above the Renaissance city par excellence.
