Micro-landscapes, a competition for architects

Euroflora supports creativity and innovation in the field of landscape design with a thematic competition aimed at landscape architects, architects, agronomists, naturalists, engineers, garden designers, gardeners of any nationality.
The objective of the organizers – Porto Antico di Genova Spa – is to select beautiful and sustainable landscape design projects that interpret in an original way the use of a particular modular system of wooden supports and masking identified together with the designers of Euroflora, architects Matteo and Antonio Lavarello. The use of this system constitutes a binding element for participation in the competition. In this way it is intended on the one hand to solicit the skills and ingenuity of the designers, in the belief that the best projects are born from stringent constraints, and on the other hand to show the hidden potential of an apparently very simple and equal system of fittings, but with infinite possibilities of configuration.
There are two categories: under 30, for students and young professionals, and over 30.

The registration deadline is 8 September, by 20 October the project must be sent. To select the best ones, those that will be realized on the occasion of the event – scheduled in Genoa in the Parks of Nervi from 24 April to 9 May 2021 – an evaluation commission composed by the architect Antonio Lavarello and the representatives of the sponsors.

For the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the metropolitan city of Genoa and the provinces of Imperia, La Spezia and Savona, the architect Caterina Gardella, for the Ordine degli Architetti Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori della Provincia di Genova Daniele Salvo, for the Ordine dei Dottori Agronomi e Forestali delle province di Genova e Savona the president Fabio Palazzo, for the Ligurian section of AIAPP – Associazione Italiana di Architettura del Paesaggio the president Anna Sessarego. The spaces assigned – up to a maximum of ten projects selected – will have a size of about 60 square meters. A second commission will evaluate the projects carried out on 23 April, the eve of the opening, traditionally dedicated to the work of the juries of all Euroflora competitions.
