Living the archetype in the landscape of Tuscia

In the heart of the unspoiled Tuscia landscape of Viterbo, amidst gentle cultivated hills and centuries-old oaks, gamp! studio presents Casa Azzurra, part of a residential project that includes two villas designed for leisure and sharing. One is intended for the clients, the other for friends. These architectures are the result of a discreet and sensitive regeneration intervention that reinterprets the volumes of two existing farm buildings made of tuff, once used as tool sheds.

The rural footprint is the starting point and not a constraint: the studio chose to renew the original shapes with care and respect, following their orientation and footprint, but reimagining the dwellings through a contemporary, minimalist, and rigorous architectural language. The houses are presented as archetypes: simple, gabled volumes, plastered in light colors, with carefully calibrated openings to capture light and landscape, never imposing visually on the context.

Despite their apparent simplicity of form, the interiors of Casa Azzurra are characterized by spatial fluidity and living comfort. The functional organization is clear and orderly but traversed by views, pathways, and vistas that expand the space outward. The windows are not mere openings; they become devices for relationship with nature, and outdoor living is an integral part of the domestic experience. Loggias, patios, and equipped terraces naturally integrate into the landscape.

Special attention was paid to the design of the openings, which mark the facades with rhythm and proportion, emphasizing the slow, contemplative dimension of rural living. The third unit of the project, partially underground, completes the composition, providing additional service or guest spaces without altering the overall profile.

gamp! is an architecture studio based in Rome, born from the collaboration of Valentino Anselmi, Valerio Palmieri, Marco Grippo, and Matteo Murzi. Through a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, gamp! addresses each project with a strong focus on context and the role of architecture in everyday life, always seeking a balance between functionality, aesthetics, and innovation.
