The studio ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel presents Jung Heng Palace, a new 170-meter-high office tower that redefines the urban profile of Taichung with a sculptural and distinctive presence. Developed for Lien Jade Real Estate, the building rises 37 floors with a total area of 81,700 sqm, offering flexible workspaces capable of adapting to future needs.
The façade is defined by vertical pillars and horizontal brise-soleil in aluminum and patinated steel, enhanced by a lighting system that emphasizes the volumetric composition.
“The design of the Jung Heng Palace tower has a timeless character influenced by the works of Mies van der Rohe. Its irregular profile sets it apart from the typical vertical silhouettes of towers”, says architect Patricia Viel.
On the ground floor, a double-height atrium welcomes visitors with custom glass cladding on the pillars and Grigio Olivo natural stone finishes, echoing the layered design of the building volumes and uniting the tower’s architecture with its interiors. The upper floors host bright office spaces with panoramic views, while a multifunctional hall dedicated to events and conferences can be flexibly configured for various uses, from ballroom to meeting room. Adjacent to the tower, a four-story commercial Gallery takes inspiration from the form of a bamboo basket. The elliptical volume, defined by stone pillars and spiral exterior staircases, integrates roof gardens and creates fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. The public plaza between the tower and the Gallery will become a welcoming green square, conceived as a new gathering place for the community.
