The house is formed in three simple elongated rectangles responding to very restricted setbacks on this riverbank site. Two rectangles set perpendicular to the river enclose the house, and splay toward the views . The third rectangle, delicately perched on the slope by two piers, is completely open forming a viewing terrace parallel to the river.
The exposed concrete structure has a CNC-milled form liner textured with a digital translation of the cliff in the distant view across the river. From the interior, views of the river are focused by planes of wood plank on the floor and ceiling.
The house has wood operable windows set into a high-performance window wall with thin steel section framing, is covered by sedum green roofs, and is geothermally heated and cooled.
