Girouette by Pierre Gonalons for Masiero

Girouette is the new collection of pendant and wall lamps by Pierre Gonalons, in which geometric rigour and poetic evocation are interwoven. The designer explores the subtle balance between creative intuition and scenic rendering, creating a series of luminous compositions that recall the decorative arts of the 20th century, filtered through a contemporary sensibility.

The metal structure, composed of thin square-cut sheets arranged in a cross, gracefully accommodates essential globes in golden Pyrex. The effect is dynamic and striking, a clear homage to the 1950s refinement of Max Ingrand, a master in the art of fusing glass and metal with formal rigour and precious materials.
Each element in the collection evokes the lightness and symbolism of the pinwheel, from which it takes its name: a simple yet meaningful object, reinterpreted in a luminous key through sophisticated staging of volumes and directions. The multiple suspensions are articulated in linear configurations of 3 or 6 elements, or in floating circular compositions of 6, 12, 18 or 36 modules, where the luminous bodies seem to rotate around an ideal centre.

The golden foils, thin and precisely folded like origami, are welded at two ends to create a continuous, harmonious sequence. Their intentionally irregular satin texture is the result of a refined process exclusive to Masiero: each sheet is polished with criss-crossed strips and then subjected to a galvanic gold bath, to be finally painted.
Light and sophisticated luminous sculptures, Girouette lamps are designed to embellish representative spaces: perfect above a dining table or in a scenographic entrance hall, they bring with them a discreet elegance, traversed by a clear retro inspiration.
