The common thread linking the two “Paradiso” restaurants in Cannes and Abu Dhabi is the interior design by architects Tiziano Vudafieri and Claudio Saverino, who have succeeded in translating the creative philosophy of chefs Pierre Gagnaire and Nicole Rubi – and their cuisine inspired by Mediterranean, Nice and Italian specialities – into a context defined by a warm, chic and casual image.
The restaurant Paradiso Nicole & Pierre is located in Cannes, inside the exclusive Hotel Barriere Le Majestic, right on the sea and in front of the famous Palais des Festivals. The same relaxed atmosphere, in the dining room as in the large three-level terrace overlooking the pool, can be found inside Paradiso Abu Dhabi, a recently opened gourmet destination. Led by the talent and creativity of two stars of French gastronomy, Vudafieri-Saverino Partners’ interiors are a tribute to the Mediterranean, Italy’s craftsmanship and cinema.
In the setting of the Hotel Majestic, this was precisely the key for Tiziano Vudafieri and Claudio Saverino, who created a concept that combined the joyful Mediterranean atmosphere with the spirit of the Côte d’Azur and its special link with cinema.
Between space, colours and surfaces, in the two restaurants in Cannes and Abu Dhabi, the interiors are bright and welcoming, and are characterised by shades of green typical of olive leaves and sage, and then move on to hints of yellow and orange of citrus fruits. Natural textures and finishes such as ceramic, rattan for the panels and seating, and Modica stone for the flooring, are mixed with more refined materials ranging from marble to brass, velvet to silk. The decoration of the walls with a beige background is enriched by wallpaper reproducing an old map of the Mediterranean on which images of scenes from iconic films shot in that area are depicted.
Orange chandeliers made of recycled plastic were designed and manufactured exclusively for the two restaurants, while rechargeable table lamps illuminate the tables more closely.
The rooms are adorned with ceramics that tell the story of traditional Mediterranean craftsmanship, in particular the Sicilian ceramics by Giacomo Alessi are unique pieces entirely made and decorated by hand.
The terraces, furnished with rattan chairs with soft yellow cushions and terracotta vases with evergreens, mark a continuity between indoors and outdoors, also emphasised by the stone flooring.
