Eduardo Souto de Moura on display in Naples

The exhibition “ESM_Estádio de Braga”, curated by Renato Capozzi and Federica Visconti with guest curators Roberto Cremascoli and Camilla Donantoni, will open its doors at the Church of SS. Demetrio and Bonifacio from 25th March (opening) to 13th April 2026.
The exhibition, dedicated to the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura and promoted by the Department of Architecture at the University of Naples “Federico II” and the Annali dell’Architettura e della Città Foundation, under the patronage of the Proarch Scientific Society, will focus on a single completed work – the Braga Stadium in Portugal – which will be illustrated with drawings, photographs, models and original sketches by the Portuguese master.

Eduardo Souto de Moura, a Portuguese architect and one of the world’s most important architects, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, will also deliver his keynote lecture entitled “Projectos recentes” on 25th March at 4.00 pm in the main lecture theatre of the historic headquarters of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Naples “Federico II”.

Souto de Moura, the architect behind countless projects in Europe and around the world, has received numerous awards and honours, including honorary doctorates from prestigious international universities.
In Italy, he designed one of the chapels on the island of San Giorgio (Cini Foundation) which, during the Venice Biennale, formed the Vatican City pavilion, and, in Naples, together with Álvaro Siza e Viera, the double station for metro lines 1 and 6.

To accompany the exhibition, a catalogue will be published by Thymos featuring critical essays by the curators and experts, an unpublished text by the architect, and an afterword by Álvaro Siza.
