Pedrali contributes to the setting of the ADI Design Museum in Milan by supplying the Dome chairs designed by Odo Fioravanti, for the events, initiatives and presentations that will take place inside.
The ADI Design Museum, scheduled to open in the first two months of 2021, will permanently house the Compasso d’Oro Collection: products and projects that have been awarded the prestigious prize over the years since 1954.
These products will include Frida, the Pedrali chair designed by Odo Fioravanti, famous for winning this award in 2011.
The design of the new museum, curated by Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto (Migliore + Servetto Architects) and Italo Lupi, is based on the idea of a narrative museum, a container open to contamination, that speaks not only of design in the strict sense of the word but of everything that gravitates around it. The permanent collection of Compasso d’Oro products will always be flanked by temporary exhibitions and transversal and in-depth initiatives.
Located in Piazza Compasso d’Oro, with entrance from Via Ceresio 7, in the context of a former industrial area with a high architectural and urban impact, the museum was created with the idea of renovating without distorting, thanks to the renovation project by Giancarlo Perrotta and Massimo Bodini. A structure with a total surface area of 5135 square metres, divided into 2400 for the exhibition, 600 for services (restaurant, cafeteria, bookshop) and 2000 for storage and ADI offices.
The ADI Design Museum is a new point of reference for the design community, capable of attracting the interest of a transgenerational and international public. It is a dynamic museum, constantly evolving and destined to tell the story of Italian design in its industrial, economic, cultural and social aspects.
The Dome chair‘s silhouette evokes the glorious tradition of bistro chairs by recalling the generous shapes of the domes of the monuments that embellish cities of art.
Made of injection-moulded, glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene, Dome is strong, light, stackable and easy to clean and maintain.
