In the heart of Bergamo, a former industrial site has given way to a bold vision of the urban centre of the future: ChorusLife, inaugurated in November 2024, goes beyond the designation of neighbourhood, positioning itself as a true ecosystem designed to interpret contemporary needs for sociality, efficiency and sustainability. Born from the forward-thinking vision of Cavalier Domenico Bosatelli and translated into architectural form by architect Joseph di Pasquale, this smart district is an advanced example of urban regeneration, where every space is designed to encourage people to meet and dialogue between generations. It houses build-to-rent residences, a four-star superior Radisson hotel, an 8,000-square-metre urban spa, over 10,000 square metres dedicated to retail and catering, and a network of squares designed to create community through architecture. Together, they create an accessible, connected place that is fully integrated into the urban fabric.
The centrepiece of the project is the ChorusLife Arena, a 6,500-seat structure clad in an iridescent skin of aluminium tiles patented with the technical support of Gualini (COSTIM Group) and certified by the Politecnico di Milano. Today, under the international management of ASM Global, the Arena is already a reference point for shows, sporting events and conferences, capable of attracting diverse audiences to an iconic space.
PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING | Powered by GEWISS oversaw the entire lighting system for the district, transforming light into a true urban infrastructure. The exterior is dominated by Urban [O]3 systems, equipped with cameras and antennas that combine lighting and security. The squares are illuminated by TYK+20 projectors, while stairways and paths are enhanced by INSERT+ ZERO and QUASAR 20, providing functional lighting that is integrated into the architectural language.
In residential areas, light becomes an atmospheric element: TYK+10 projectors and recessed elements such as CRICKET+ 15 highlight the surrounding greenery, while SPILLO MINI POST and MIMIK 10 POST bollards distribute light evenly throughout the gardens. Inside, ChoruSmart Lux solutions and Home & Building PRO smart panels allow intuitive management of the home environment, where technology and comfort merge into a single experience.
The Arena itself is a technological showcase, including from a lighting perspective. Smart [PRO] 2.0 projectors, designed for large sports facilities, enhance its spectacular function. Smart plates and high-performance distribution panels are used in the technical areas and Sky Box, while the SL764+ and SL787+ series channel lighting compositions create visual lines that interact with the architecture and amplify its expressive power. Recessed fixtures such as DL SQUARE MIDI, DL ROUND MAXI and DLSB100 LED complete the atmosphere, while LM4 fixtures, painted black to blend in visually, provide discreet but effective lighting in the external access areas.
The hotel also reflects this logic of integration between aesthetics and technology. The common areas benefit from SL764+ linear fixtures in recessed or suspended versions, providing a measured and consistent decorative contribution. PLATO 600 MP, FL ROUND+ and downlights such as DL ROUND MIDI and DLSB150LED SB illuminate offices, conference rooms and passageways with precision, while the rooms use intelligent systems that manage light and comfort in a synergistic way.
In public and private car parks, over 6,000 Smart ceiling lights [3] communicate with each other via the KNX protocol, adapting the lighting to actual use and optimising energy consumption in real time.
But the intervention is not limited to lighting. The project also integrates GEWISS solutions for energy distribution — with CVX panels, IEC 309 HP sockets, Q-DIN systems and advanced ducting — for home automation and space automation through KNX devices, and for electric mobility, thanks to a widespread network of JOINON charging stations, both in the EVO version for everyday use and I-FAST for fast charging.
ChorusLife is a concrete example of how technology can serve to improve the quality of urban life. In this project, light is not just a technical tool, but a means of expression, a guarantee of safety, an aesthetic element and a vehicle for sustainability.
