Ceramica Mediterranea presents Origini, a journey through memory and matter

Abitzai, the premium brand of Ceramica Mediterranea, presents at the Fuorisalone 2025 the new Origini collection, a journey between memory and matter, within a dedicated space at jrk design district in via San Giovanni Sul Muro.
Yet another homage to the roots of the Mediterranean, a place of encounters, exchanges and stories interwoven over time, ‘where modernity can learn the sense of the limit, where the desire for the infinite meets the measure of man’, as the sociologist Franco Cassano wrote.
With Origini, Abitzai gives life to a collection that is both a tale and a living matter. A celebration of the Mediterranean that continues to tell its story through design and the art of ceramics, translating into precious surfaces, born from the earth and shaped by innovation, ready to dress spaces with a timeless elegance that resists standardisation, to discover the beauty of difference and the value of memory.

With Origini, we want to tell an untold story, made up of ancient symbols and signs of our ancestors, which become fertile ground for the imagination,’ explains Claudia Mazohl, Business & Development of Ceramica Mediterranea and Abitzai. ‘Through the two collections, Areale and Tibula, we propose a contemporary language that goes beyond formal conventions. Signs and new material surfaces, in a fusion of perception and mirage, of landscapes suspended between appearance and memory.

If Areale is distinguished by a fluid weave of signs and symbols that oscillate between reality and imagination, Tibula evokes the ancient city at the northern tip of Sardinia, a crossroads of civilisations and stories. The decorations of Origini, the result of a refined balance between tradition and innovation, are born from the combination of coloured enamels and precious metals on a solid porcelain stoneware base. The surfaces acquire depth and preciousness thanks to plays of light and colour, ranging from warm neutral to marine green, from earthy terracotta to volcanic anthracite. The collection is available in two sizes: full field on 60×120 tiles and semi-full with a vertical cut, adapting perfectly to contemporary architectural spaces, being completed by backgrounds in natural shades.

Ceramica Mediterranea will also be present at dOT-design Outdoor Texture, the event organised by VG crea in the San Marco architectural complex in the heart of the Brera Design District. In this edition, which revolves around the theme of ‘matter’, an area of 400 m2 will be set up with special porcelain stoneware for high laying, 2 cm thick slabs, from their various collections.
